TOM'S STORY
The Defining Moment
In October 2015, Tom’s life changed forever when he tragically lost his brother to suicide after a long battle with substance abuse and depression.
The loss had a devastating impact on Tom and his family and forced him to confront the reality of how many people struggle silently with their mental health.
The Struggle
In the months that followed, Tom experienced his own battles with depression and suicidal thoughts.
It was an incredibly difficult period, filled with grief, confusion and emotional pain.
But through the support of those around him, Tom slowly began to rebuild his life and find a way forward.
The Realisation
During that journey, Tom realised something powerful.
So many people struggle with their mental health but feel unable to talk about it.
The stigma surrounding mental health can prevent people from asking for help when they need it most.
Tom knew he wanted to play a role in changing that.
The Mission
Motivated by the experience his family went through, Tom founded Tom’s Talks.
His mission is simple: to raise awareness of mental health, encourage open conversations and help people build the resilience and mindset needed to face life’s challenges.
Since then, Tom has delivered hundreds of talks in schools, organisations and events across the UK, helping thousands of people better understand their mental health and feel less alone.
“If sharing my story helps even one person realise they’re not alone, then it’s worth it. My goal is simply to start conversations that could make a difference in someone’s life.”
